A chilly morning here today failed to deter the thousands of people who gathered on either sides of the majestic Rajpath, the ceremonial boulevard facing Raisina Hills, to cheer the marching contingents for the 65th Republic Day.

However, the chill was not as intense as it had been yesterday as the maximum temperature was recorded at a comfortable 20.3 degrees Celsius as bright sunshine eventually gave some respite from morning's overcast conditions.

While the maximum temperature was about six degrees above yesterday's 14.4 degrees, there was not much of a change in the minimum which was recorded at 9.9 degrees Celsius compared to 9.4 last night.

Humidity oscillated between 69 to 100 per cent.

The weathermen have predicted a mainly clear sky which could turn cloudy during the course of the day with moderate but dense fog in the morning.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be 21 and 9 degree Celsius respectively.
