Residents in many parts of Kashmir woke up to a foggy morning today as the temperatures in the Valley dipped over the last few days owing to snowfall in the higher reaches.

Many parts of the Valley were covered by a thick layer of haze in the morning, leading to poor visibility.

The Meteorological Department said the foggy mornings were a result of sudden dip in the temperatures.

"There has been a sudden dip in temperature in the Valley, along with presence of water droplets in the air, which has resulted in the haze," Director MET Office here, Sonam Lotus told PTI.

Lotus said there was condensation taking place at the lower levels which resulted in the formation of haze and it would remain for few more days.

"This is a result of condensation taking place at the lower level. This situation will continue for few days," he said.

The official said the heavy haze would lead to poor visibility that may affect air and road traffic.

He said there would be a decrease in the haze with a spell of rain.

The MET has forecast wet weather from November 3.
