Foiled bid to rob bank in JK

An unsuccessful bid was made to rob a nationalised bank in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir with some unidentified men barging into the branch by cutting open the front gate shutter.

The robbers, however, could not break open the chest containing the cash, a police officer said, adding they ransacked the bank files, furniture and computers of Dhar Galoon branch in Mendhar area of Poonch last night.

The bank staff claimed that some record was also missing from the branch.

Police, which has registered a case, is suspecting hand of an insider into the robbery bid.

To nab the culprits, police have also pressed into the service of the dog squad, he said.
