Folk artist to contest pradhan's post

Wearing a white Kurta with a traditionally enriched Naga waistcoat, Tangkhul Naga folk song exponent, Mashangva popularly known as Guru Rewben is contesting from reserved schedule tribe seat from Laifam Khunou Gram Panchayat in Imphal West district in the valley.

"I am contesting the panchayat elections because I want to serve the people at the grassroots level," Rewben who hails from interior Ukhrul Hill district said adding that several friends from the valley particularly Meiteis have asked him to contest the polls.

Rewben has performed in different parts of the country and his folk songs in Tangkhul dialects are liked by many fans and admirers in the country.
