Nearly one lakh food packets per day transported by helicopter have been sent to East Godavari district, even as the administration is trying to sent food material and machinery to restore badly affected Visakhapatnam.
East Godavari District collector Neetu Prasad entrusted the responsibility for sending food material and other immediate requirements to Visakhapatanm to senior officers like Joint Collector R Mutyalaaraju, Additional Joint collector D Markendeyulu and Rajahmundry Sub-Collector V Vijaya Raju.
The collector also sought the co-operation of corporate bodies like Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) and Cairn India to extend support as corporate social responsibility to assist cyclone victims.
Accordingly, 13 lakh food packets, 7.37 lakh water packets 28,000 half litre milk packets, 1.74 lakh biscuit packets, 84,250 bananas, 12,375 apples, 6,314 bread packets, one tonne of cattlefeed have been sent to Visakhapatnam, she said.
