A day after 125 children were taken ill after consuming mid-day meal, an FIR has been registered against the Principal of the primary school at Belhari here and the village head, police said today.

On the complaint of Sanjay Dutt Bharti, father of one of the children taken ill, an FIR has been registered against school principal Pratima Upadhyay and village head Lakshmi Devi at Haldi Police Station, Superintendent of Police, Manoj Kumar Jha said.

The children, who had consumed the special meal of "puri, chola and kheer", complained of vomiting and diarrhoea and were rushed to the district hospital yesterday.

A four-member team has been constituted to probe the incident.

Meanwhile the Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) Rakesh Singh had said that prima facie there appears to be something wrong with the 'puri' served to children.

Four teachers were suspended while services of five others including two cooks were being terminated, the BSA added.
