An incubation-cum-training centre has been set up by the state government and TNAU at Kodavadi near here in order to motivate farmers and unemployed youth to become entrepreneurs in the food processing sector.
The centre, situated in the city's rural limits, would focus on post-harvest processing of food crops and making them into value-added food products, a Tamil Nadu Agricultural University release said.
Frequent training programmes on food processing were being organised at the centre, during which nutritional significance and health benefits would be highlighted.
In addition to technology know-how, requisites for establishing a food processing unit, project proposals, marketing strategies, packaging technologies and FSSAI certification details would be explained to participants, the release said.
