Milk packets with advance manufacturing date were seized from a private dairy during surprise raids conducted by food safety officials in and around the city today, a senior official said.
The routine raids were conducted in five dairies and an unspecified number of milk packets with manufacturing date mentioned as "25.6.2015" instead of today's date seized from one of them at Krishnampalayam here, District Food Safety Officer Karunanidhi told reporters here.
Officials also collected milk samples from the five dairies and these would be sent to a laboratory in neighbouring Coimbatore to check for adulteration, he said.
He said such raids were conducted regularly by the department to prevent adulteration.
