FoodCloud, an online resource portal that provides variety of cuisines through registered chefs and caterers, has raised Rs 3.5 crore for expanding its operations beyond NCR and has entered Kolkata.
With 30 chefs on board, the company aims to connect home-based food expertise with customer demands without a delivery radius restriction, thus bringing new areas such as Salt Lake in Kolkata closer to the main city hub.
"Our present chefs are offering a varied appetite indulgence including comfort American foods, Chinese, Tex-Mex, specialised bakery requirements, desserts, Mughlai food for those who's shifted here recently, with smatterings of Italian, Burmese and even French cuisine. These items can be delivered anywhere within Kolkata with a few hours' notice and ordering on FoodCloud," the company said in a statement.

"FoodCloud also received its first phase of funding amounting to the total invested into this Food Tech biz now at Rs 3.5 crore," it said.
The statement added that FoodCloud has been inducted into the 'Start Up India Programme' by the Government of India and the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.

Traders body CAIT asks PM to declare 2017 as "Less Cash Year" * The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has suggested the Prime Minister to declare Year 2017 as "Less Cash Year" in the Country to boost digital payments.
"In order to encourage people to embrace digital payment technology at both levels i.E B2C and B2B, the declaration of Less Cash Year will certainly prove to be a major announcement" said CAIT in a statement.
CAIT National President B C Bhartia and Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal informed that the CAIT has planned an aggressive 60 days national campaign for promoting traders to adopt digital payments.
The campaign will be launched from 1st week of January to last week of February. During the campaign the CAIT will hold Digital Payment Conferences in states which will be attended by leaders of prominent Trade Associations of respective States followed by Digital Payment Camps in markets across the Country for on spot acceptance of digital payments available options.
