A court here today sentenced a Siksha Mitra to life imprisonment for throwing acid on a girl and her mother last year.
Holding Vimal Maurya guilty, Additional District Judge Budhiram Yadav also slapped a penalty of Rs one lakh on him, government counsel Prakash Mishra said.
In November 2013, jilted lover Maurya threw acid on the girl and her mother while they were sleeping outside their house in Badlapur area.
Of the penalty amount, Rs 75,000 should be given to the girl and Rs 25,000 to her mother, the judge said.
