Ford India sales up 34% in March at 15,775 units

Exports during the month stood at 10,522 units as compared to 5,449 units in March 2014, up 93%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Automaker Ford India today reported 33.62% increase in total sales at 15,775 units in March.

It had sold 11,805 units in March 2014.

Ford India's domestic sales were at 5,253 units last month, down 17.35% from 6,356 units a year ago, the company said in a statement.

It said exports during the month stood at 10,522 units as compared to 5,449 units in March 2014, up 93%.

Commenting on the sales performance, Ford India Executive Director Marketing, Sales and Service Anurag Mehrotra said: "With the economic recovery being slower than anticipated and a high interest rate and inflation environment, customers continue to defer their discretionary spends."

He, however, said: "Ford's faith in India's long-term growth prospects remains intact. We are continuing to invest in India's future growth potential."

In March, the company inaugurated its USD 1 billion integrated manufacturing facility at Sanand, Gujarat, the second manufacturing plant of the company after Chennai.
