Ford Motor's China joint venture will recall 219,307 Kuga sports-utility vehicles over oil tube defect that could cause fuel leakages, China's quality watchdog said today.

Vehicles manufactured between July 3, 2012 and November 26, 2014 will be recalled, the watchdog, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said in a statement.

There were concerns that the oil tubes of affected vehicles may crack and cause fuel leakage, which could pose a threat to safety in extreme cases, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

Changan Ford Automobile Co Ltd, a joint venture between Changan Automobile and the American automaker Ford, said it would replace the tubes free of charge.
