Foreign leaders, military officials to converge here for

A host of leaders and top military officials from various countries, including the US and UK, will assemble here next week to discuss the global situation at a three-day conference to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

With the overall theme 'The New Normal -- Multilateralism with Multipolarity', the Raisina Dialogue beginning on January 17 will cover subjects like Connectivity, Evolving Politics of Asia-Pacific, Combating State and Non-State Actors, Countering Violent Extremism Online and the Nuclear Conundrum.

The Prime Minister, in his inaugural address, is expected to outline his vision of the emerging world order.

Power Minister Piyush Goyal, Minister of State for External Affairs Gen (retd) V K Singh and Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar are among other Indian ministers and officials who will address the conference.
 

The foreign speakers include British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson, Afghan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, Nepalese Foreign Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat, Bangladesh's International Affairs Advisor to PM Gowher Rizvi, Diplomatic Advisor to French President Jacques Audibert and UN Under Secretary Jane Holl Lute.

US Pacific Command chief Admiral Harry B. Harris Jr, America's Cyber Coordinator in the Department of State Chris Painter and Commander of Joint Forces Command of UK Sir Christopher Deverell are among the security officials scheduled to address the conclave.

India's Western Naval Command chief Vice Admiral Girish Luthra will also address it.

The event will also be addressed by former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and former Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
