With the arrest of two men, police today claimed to have busted a foreign liquor racket that involved alleged smuggling of alcoholic beverages from Delhi.

Acting on a tip-off, prohibition enforcement wing sleuths arrested V Balamurgan and Vikas Kumar Singh and seized 405 bottles of imported wine brands.

They have been remanded in judicial custody, police said.

Vikas Singh, a native of Jharkhand and a resident of Sowcarpet here, had allegedly been supplying imported wine brands to Balamurugan after procuring them from Delhi and the latter had functioned as a local distributor.

The value of seized foreign liquor besides two vehicles involved in transporting them is Rs 10 lakh, police added.
