A Zambian national was arrested today at the Mumbai international airport for allegedly attempting to smuggle out six kg of amphetamine drugs worth Rs 6 crore, a customs official said.

Six kg of amphetamine was found carefully concealed in 140 sewing machine spools in Alis Fataki's (36) luggage while she was about to board a flight in the wee hours of Thursday, the official said.

Subsequently she was arrested, the official said.

"She was slated to board an Ethiopian Airways flight to Malawi via Addis Ababa around 3 am. Her passport showed this was her second visit to the country and she had been staying here for the last one-and-a-half months," he said.

"She claimed to be working as a beautician and is a single mother," the officer said, adding that further probe was on.
