Foreign tourist flow in India rising

Flow of foreign tourists to the country is on the rise despite the spread of swine flu, Rajya Sabha was told today.

There has been an increase of foreign tourists by 30,585 in January this year as compared to the same period last year, Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma said in a written reply.

The number of foreign tourists in January 2014 was 7,59,515 which rose to 7,90,100 in January 2015.

Sharma also said that Australia, UK, Germany, France, Italy and Russia have advised their citizens to take precautions and preventive measures while travelling to India.

In December 2014, 8,86,084 foreign tourists came to India whereas their number was 8,21,581 in December 2013, an increase of 64,503.
 

There were 7,33,923 foreign tourists in November 2013, which rose to 7,66,690 in the same period in 2014, a rise by 32,767.

Similarly, increase in foreign tourist arrivals was registered in August, September and October also.
