Forest department clerk booked for demanding Rs 50,000 bribe

A 50-year-old forest department clerk has been booked by the Thane unit of ACB for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000.

According to an official release by Sanjay Mohite, DYSP with Thane unit of ACB, the clerk--Suresh Ramdas Chavan-- had made the demand from the complainant for issuing a NOC from the forest department for his non-agricultural land.

The release further said that the clerk had already recieved a sum of Rs 3,50,000 from the complainant and had made a demand for an additional Rs 50,000.

Aggrieved, the complainant lodged a complaint with the Thane unit of ACB and an offence was registered with the Naupada police station after due verification by the sleuths.
 

The clerk has been booked under sections 7, 13(1)(d), 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act of 1988. However, he has not been arrested yet, the official said.
