"A search team has been constituted to trace them," Forest Range officer Rajneesh Lohani said, adding that it yesterday visited the area where the leopards were spotted by villagers, but could not locate the animals.

Two days back, villagers of Maindoli and Khadkoli in Pauri district had informed Divisional Forest Officer of Garhwal forest range about the two leopards who had suffered injuries in a recent forest fire.

However, Chief Forest Conservator DBS Khati said that he had not got any information about leopards being injured from the Garhwal forest division.

"As precaution forest officials will take appropriate steps to save the leopards as well for the safety of the villagers," he added.
