Forest dept deputy ranger nabbed taking bribe

A deputy ranger of was caught red- handed by the Lokayukta Police for allegedly taking Rs 4,000 bribe from a contractor.

Deputy ranger at the Forest department, Satveer Singh Solanki was caught last evening from the forest department's office at Noulakha area here on the complaint of the contractor Rajiv Shinde, Lokayukta SP, Arun Mishra told said today.

The official has demanded Rs 5,000 from the contractor for clearing his bill amounting to Rs 1.30 lakh for some construction in Bio-Diversity Park in Ralamandal area, Mishra said.

The complainant negotiated the amount to Rs 4,000 and later tipped-off Lokayukta about it, following which a trap was laid and he was caught in the office, Mishra said, adding a case under Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against him in this regard.
