Forest guard held for accepting Rs 5000 bribe

A Forest guard has been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 5,000 in exchange of official favour, police said today.

Santosh Shinde, presently working as acting Round Forest Officer at Pimpalsound in Surgana taluka, was held yesterday.

He had allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 in two instalments to release the motorcycle of the complainant who was booked for illegal cutting of wood, stated an ACB release.

Shinde had even submitted a report to his seniors for the release of the motorcycle of the complainant after he agreed to pay up.

Meanwhile, the complainant approached the ACB which laid a trap.
