Forest worker dies in freak accident with tranquiliser gun

A forest worker died after allegedly being accidentally shot with a tranquiliser gun by a co-worker at Dalsinghpara in the Baksa forest range in Jalpaiguri district today.

The tranquiliser gun was fired by forest department employees at a herd of four to five elephants which had entered the area in Alipurduar subdivision in search of food,

Forest department sources said.

Forest worker, Ratan Dey, who was accidentally shot was taken to the Alipurduar hospital where he was declared brought dead, they added.
