Fork out Rs 5 lakh to get a fancy car regn number

A cabinet meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, approved a long-pending policy for issuance of fancy registration numbers under which a reserve price of Rs. 5 lakh has been finalised as fee for first category of VIP number with 0001 in each series.

"The cabinet has given its green signal for the allotment of fancy numbers in respect of four wheeled private vehicles on the basis of open bid of the available numbers of specified categories on fortnightly basis," Dikshit said.

The reserved fees for other single digit number from 0002 to 0009 has been fixed at Rs. 3 lakh, while third category of double digit numbers like 0010 to 0099 has been be priced at Rs. 2 lakh. The minimum price for registration numbers such as 0786, 1000, 1111, 7777 and 9999 has also been priced at Rs 2 lakh.

 

Numbers such as 0100, 0111, 0200, 0222, 0300, 0333 and similar numbers upto 0999 will cost Rs one lakh. Similarly, numbers like 2000, 8000 and 8888, 9000, 0101, 0108, 1008 and 1313 will also cost Rs one lakh MRP of Rs.1 lakh.

Other fancy numbers may be obtained at a cost of Rs 20,000.

Diskhit said the policy has been framed to overcome the "irregularities" in the current system and ensure transparency.

Dikshit said money collected through issuing fancy numbers will be transferred to Chief Minister
