In a shot in the arm for the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), Konda Visweshwar Reddy, a grandson of former AP deputy chief minister Konda Venkata Ranga Reddy, joined the party today.

Reddy was welcomed into the TRS fold by its president K Chandrasekhar Rao at a public meeting held at Chevella in neighbouring Ranga Reddy district.

Visweswar Reddy is expected to be the TRS candidate from Chevella Lok Sabha constituency, which is represented at present by Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy.

Describing Ranga Reddy as a "Telangana supporter" to the core, Chandrasekhar Rao appealed to the people to vote for the Telangana sentiment in the coming elections.

The TRS president also unveiled a statue of Ranga Reddy, after whom the district is named.
