Former BDO's houses raided

Police today raided the house

of former Block Development Officer of Bishalgarh in Sipahijala district, Bimal Chakraborty, who was allegedly involved in a financial scam of Rs 17 crore.

A police team, led by Additional Superintendent of Police Sharmistha Chakraborty, today raided the house of Chakraborty at Milanchakra here and seized some documents.

When contacted, the additional SP said, "We conducted a raid into the house of Chakraborty and ceased some documents from his house."

Incumbent BDO of Bishalgarh, Subrata Das filed an FIR against Chakraborty on September 19 following an internal audit report of the government was made available to the opposition Congress.
 

A delegation of the Congress led by former Speaker of Tripura Assembly, Jiten Sarkar met Chief Secretary, G Kameswar Rao and submitted a memorandum along with the internal audit report and demanded stern action against him.

Police said an FIR was registered against him under section 409 and 135 of IPC.
