Anjani Kumar Singh, the former Bihar chief secretary has been appointed the Advisor, Policy and Programme Implementation, to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, a government notification said today.
A 1981 batch IAS officer, Singh had retired in February this year but was granted three months' extension.
Upon the expiry of Singh's extension period, 1984-batch IAS officer Deepak Kumar took over as the new chief secretary of the state.
According to the notification issued by the cabinet secretariat department, Singh would enjoy the status of a minister of state.
"His responsibilities would include extending necessary advice and cooperation to the Chief Minister for effective and result-oriented implementation of the government's programmes and achievement of targets within the stipulated period of time," the notification added.
