Former MP and Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mohan Singh Phalianwala today joined Aam Aadmi Party.

He is a former MP from Ferozepur and represented the constituency in 1992 and 1996.

He, along with his supporters, joined the AAP here in the presence of party leaders Sucha Singh Chhotepur, Sanjay Singh, Bhagwant Mann and Durgesh Pathak.

"I had joined BSP under Kanshi Ram's influence. After Kanshi Ram the party lost its path," Phalianwala said.

He said that despite their efforts, the party could not line up to Kanshi Ram's ideals, prompting him to join the AAP, a party that stood for the poor and Dalits.

Sanjay Singh said Phalianwala is a Dalit leader known for his honesty. He was state president of the BSP from 1986 to 2002.

He also served as member of the BSP central executive.
