Senior Congress leader and former state minister Tarun Prasad Chatterjee passed away in Raipur this evening following a cardiac arrest, his family member said.
He was 68.
He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.

A popular leader among the down-trodden sections of the society, Tarun Prasad Chatterjee was a four-time MLA (from Raipur rural constituency) and three-time Mayor of Raipur Municipal Corporation, a Congress state spokesperson said.
He was elected as member of Legislative Assembly for the first time from Raipur rural constituency in 1980 (on Congress ticket) and then in 1990 (on Janata Party ticket).
In 1993, Chatterjee was again elected as the MLA (BJP) and for the fourth time in 1998 (BJP), he added.
He was the Public Works Department (PWD) minister between 2002 and 2003 during the Ajit Jogi-led Congress government in Chhattisgarh. Chatterjee was the general secretary of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee from 2003 to 2013, the spokesperson added.
Political leaders cutting across the party lines condoled the death of Chatterjee.
Describing Chatterjee as an active public representative, Chief Minister Raman Singh expressed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
"He was an exemplary leader who served the people as minister, MLA and Mayor," Singh said in his condolence message.
State Congress chief Bhupesh Baghel expressed his grief over Chatterjee's demise. "He wasthe leader of common masses and devoted his entire life to serve them. His passing away is an irreparable loss," Baghel said.
