: Former Comptroller and Auditor General Vinod Rai, assigned by the Supreme Court to audit the entire assets of Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple here, today held discussions with temple authorities to work out a plan on going about the task.

Rai, who arrived here on Sunday evening, held discussions with members of the five-member temple managing committee appointed by the Apex Court over the last two days.

Temple sources said auditing of the riches and all other assets of the temple is expected to start next month after finalising members on the auditors' panel to carry out the work.

Rai offered worship at the temple on Monday.

The Supreme Court had last month entrusted Rai with the task of auditing the assets of the shrine, reputed for priceless treasures kept in its vaults, based on the report by Amicus Curiae Gopal Subramaniam.

The Court had also appointed a five-member management committee, headed by additional district judge for the administration of the shrine, virtually decontrolling its control from the erstwhile Travancore royal family.
