Former Censor board official passes away

Former Regional Officer of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and documentary film maker Babu Rammasammi died here following cardiac arrest.

Rammasammi, 64, died at a private hospital here last night. He is survived by wife, son and daughter, sources close to his family said.

Rammasammi was the Regional Officer of CBFC in Chennai between 2005 and 2010 during which he achieved a 'record' certification of more than 13,500 films.

An instructional film maker who started his career with the Films Division, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting in 1982, he had made a number of training films for Armed Forces and others, his family said in a statement.
 

Rammasammi received the President's Award for his production 'Kalaris of Kerala' and 'A few things about her' - a film on Meerabai.
