The State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) today booked a former Chief Education Officer (CEO) along with three others for an alleged illegal appointment of a Rehbar- e-Taleem (ReT) teacher here.

A complaint was received against Tarsem Lal, then CEO Jammu, Sheru Ram, then posted as headmaster in the Government High School Malla, Ram Rakha, then Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), Chowki Choura regarding misuse of their official positions for "extraneous considerations to give undue benefit" to one Priti Rani for appointing her as the ReT Teacher in the Government High School, Malla here, an SVO officer said.

During investigation, it was found that the officials "facilitated and appointed" Rani for the post of the ReT teacher, which was meant for a reserved category candidate, he said.

"The three public servants in criminal conspiracy and connivance with beneficiary Rani illegally appointed her by sheer abuse of their official positions and conferred undue benefit upon her," the officer said.

"On the prima facie establishment of offences, a case against the four has been registered," he added.
