Former child labourers to get skill training

As many as 42 former child labourers were today sent to Chennai from here to obtain skill training.

According to National Child Labour Abolition Project sources, rescued child labourers were given education in special schools.

Apart from their regular education, the district administration had initiated several steps to promote their skills by which 1189 students expressed their willingness to undergo special training to develop their skills in different fields. Already 34 students had received training in Computer and Cell Phone services in Chennai and Madurai.

The 42 candidates would be given training by Tamil Nadu Small and Tiny Industries Association, Chennai. The training would be given free of cost and free accommodation for a month, officials said.
 

Willing Candidates would be provided with job opportunities in reputed firms and loan facilities would also be arranged for those desiring to be entrepreneurs, said Collector K.Vivekanandan who flagged off the 'skill development journey'.
