Former Chief Minister of Puducherry and senior Congress leader V Vaithilingam today filed his nomination for the post of Assembly Speaker, election for which is scheduled on June 11.
Secretary to the Assembly S.Mohandas said 66-year-old Vaithilingam filed the nomination today while while pro-tem Speaker V P Sivakolundhu, also from the ruling Congress, filed the nomination for the post of Deputy Speaker.
Election for the post of Deputy Speaker is also slated for June 11 on the floor of the House.
Nominations can be filed till noon tomorrow, he said.
