A former municipal councilor of Mandi Gobindgarh town in Fatehgarh Sahib has been booked for allegedly raping a 19-year-old girl on the pretext of marriage.
The victim in a police complaint said that she and Harsimarpreet Singh Bajwa were in a relationship since last three years, and he raped her on the pretext of marriage but married another girl.
She alleged that Bajwa even blackmailed her and threatened to upload her "objectionable" pictures on the internet, police said.
A case under relevant sections of IPC has been registered against the accused, they added.
