"Everything is going in the right direction in Bihar," Srikkanth, former chief of cricket selection committee who was himself a dashing opener and part of the World Cup winning team in 1983, told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.

"People of the state are hard working," he said.

On the controversy over the presence of many cricket governing boards in Bihar, Srikkanth said the fight among them was harming the game and hoped that the dispute would be overcome and good cricketers from the state would be nurtured.

Bihar is witnessing fight between boards led by RJD President Lalu Prasad and cricketer-turned BJP MP Kirti Azad.

Srikkanth, who partnered legendary Sunil Gavaskar for a long time, said Bihar has produced some good cricketers like Syed Saba Karim and Ramesh Saxena and opportunity should be provided to promote more such talents to come forward and shine at the national and international levels.

He refused to comment on the performance of Sachin Tendulkar as well as that of the country's team against England citing his involvement with a news channel.

Srikkanth was here in connection with a job fair for the underprivileged organised jointly by the National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development and NGO Ashanurup Lok Seva Samiti.
