Former Deputy Speaker Dongre, ex-MLA Rajgadkar pass away

Former Deputy Speaker of Maharashtra Assembly advocate Suryakant Dongre passed away here today.

He was 80.

He was a two-term MLA from the city and was leader of the Republican Party of India (RPI).

He is survived by his wife and family.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Speaker Dilip Walse Patil and EGS Minister Nitin Raut have condoled his sad demise.

Meanwhile, a former announcer of All India Radio and one-term MLA from Ralegaon (Yavatmal), Netaji Rajgadkar passed away at his residence today, due to a prolonged illness.

He was 64.

Rajgadkar was elected on a Janata Dal ticket in 1990 and joined Congress sometime ago.
 

Both Chavan and Pawar also condoled the demise, official sources said.
