Former DG of AIR joins BJD, appointed national spokesperson

Former director general of All India Radio (News) Giridhari Mohanty today formally joined the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha, and was appointed as the party's national spokesperson.

Mohanty was welcomed into the party by BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

"I am glad that Giridhari Mohanty has joined Biju Janata Dal today. He has held many distinguished positions in the Central government. He will be a great asset for the party," Patnaik told reporters.

Mohanty, also a former spokesperson for CBI, said, "I will try my best to perform well in the party. I would take care of all responsibilities that would be assigned to me."

Immediately after his joining, Patnaik appointed Mohanty as the national spokesperson and the national media co-ordinator of the BJD.

 

Earlier this week, former Mumbai police commissioner and retired IPS officer Arup Patnaik had joined the BJD.
