Apparently peeved over the state of affairs in the Punjab Congress, former Amritsar district (Urban) president Jugal Kishore Sharma today resigned from the executive committee of the state party unit.

Talking to reporters here, Sharma, who was removed as district head of the Amritsar (Urban) during re-constitution of the PPCC, said he was "unhappy over the way the affairs of the PPCC are being run."

He said he had forwarded his resignation to the party high command.

"I have remained a loyal worker of the party for so many years, but I was removed and a greenhorn appointed as my successor," he said.

The bickerings in the Punjab unit of the Congress erupted after re-constitution of PPCC last month with several Congress leaders resigning from party posts in the past one week.
