Former DRDO scientist's house burgled

Burglers struck at the house of a former DRDO scientist in Sector-17 of the city, police said here today.

Dr Satendra Kumar was head of the design team of India's nuclear test-- Pokhran-2, 1998. Along with different awards achieved by him in the field of science, the thieves also took away the Padma Shri he got in 1999.

On Tuesday, he had gone to Bangalore with his wife and yesterday he found his house burgled. His children are studying in US.

Thieves have also stolen laptop, silver jewellery and a watch, police said.

Dr Sikka (72) was awarded Homi Jehangir Bhabha lifetime achievement award by Indian Nuclear Society in 2007, Homi Jehangir Bhabha Award in 2005, M M Chugani Memorial award by Indian Physics Association and H K Firodia award in 1998.
 

He has been living here for the past 10 years.
