Former Himachal Pradesh chief secretary Sudripta Roy died here after brief illness at the age of 63.
Roy, a 1978 batch IAS officer, held the post from 2012 to 2014.
In his condolence message, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said Roy was an efficient bureaucrat and served the state in various important capacities.

Valuable services rendered by Roy to the state would be remembered for a long time, he said.
The chief minister expressed his deepest sympathies with the bereaved family members.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary V C Pharka said he was shocked to hear the news.
He said Roy was a "great personality" who would always inspire others to work hard with utmost dedication.
