Former Maharashtra DGP Suryakant Jog passes away

Former Maharashtra Director General of Police Suryakant Jog passed away here today.

Jog (90) was the DGP of the state from 1985 to 1987.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid tributes to the late officer, acknowledging his work for water conservation post-retirement.

"Saddened by the demise of former DGP of Maharashtra Suryakantji Jog, not only known for good policing but also for his work on water conservation," the CM tweeted.

"After retirement he spent all his energy devising & implementing ingenious ways of storing rainwater to address the problem of water shortage.

"Collecting rainwater drained from the narrow village roads, construction of small bunds were some of the projects he implemented in Amravati," said Fadnavis.
 

Former Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, who was a policeman before joining politics, had worked under Jog.
