A former Maoist leader and his associate were arrested today in Bihar's Arwal district, a police officer said.
Acting on a tip off, the police raided Sarauti village and arrested former Maoist leader Bachchan Kahar and his associate Bharat Paswan Rampur, the Superintendent of Police Dilip Kumar Mishra said.
During search at Kahar's house, the cops seized a stolen rifle, five ammunition and naxal literature, the SP said, adding three ammunition were also seized from Paswan's possession.
Kahar had taken to extortion and contract works after renouncing Maoist activities, the SP said, adding the two were being interrogated.
