Former MLA Sandeep Aggrawal passes away

Former MLA from Moradabad, Sandeep Aggrawal passed away today in his house at Civil Lines in Shanti Nagar area here, his family members said.

He was 57-years-old and was suffering from lever cancer from the past two years. Recently he was discharged from a Delhi hospital.

The four-time MLA is survived by his wife, one daughter (32) and a 15-year-old son.

Aggrawal has won Moradabd city assembly seat four times in his political career.

In 1993, 1996 and 2002, he was elected to Uttar Pardesh Vidhan Sabha on BJP ticket, while in 2007 he won the assembly elections on Samajwadi Party ticket.
 

Aggrawal fought his last election in 2012 on BSP ticket from the same place, but lost.

Congress leader Asad Molaey condoled his death and recalled that Aggrawal has started his political career with Youth Congress.

"Aggrawal has served as District Vice-President of Youth Congress in 1987. Aggrawal left Congress and joined BJP in 1991 when his uncle B P Singhal contested parliamentary elections from Moradabad on BJP ticket," Molaey said.

BJP city President Ritesh Gupta recalled his long association with Aggrawal and said that he left BJP in 2007 due to his closeness with SP leader Amar Singh.
