A local court here issued summons to former MP and ex-IGP Anadi Sahu to depose before it either in person or through his lawyer on April 5 in connection with a civil defamation case filed by former DGP Sanjeev Marik.

The summons was issued by the Senior Division Civil Court.

Marik had on March 4 filed a civil defamation suit for Rs 50 lakh against Sahu who alleged that the former DGP had close links with gangster brothers Sushil and Sushant Dhalasamanta.

Marik, in his petition, said that his reputation and social status had been damaged due to statements made by Sahu who linked him with Sushant and Sushil Dhalsamant.

The former IG had also accused Marik on February 20 of having taken a benefit of Rs 7 crore from the gangster brothers lodged in a jail in Cuttack.
