Former Puducherry Health Minister passes away

Former Health Minister of Puducherry P Anandabaskaran died at a private hospital here today after brief illness, family sources said.

Anandabaskaran (70) is survived by wife, two sons and two daughters.

He was first elected as Congress member to Puducherry Assembly from Villianoor constituency here in the 1990 polls. He retained the seat in the polls held in 1991 and became Health Minister in the ministry headed by V Vaithilingam.

He however joined the AINRC during the run up to the polls in 2011 and unsuccessfully contested the election in Mangalam constituency which is close to his home town of Villianoor.
