An alleged former SIMI operative was arrested here today on the charge of causing communal hatred by publishing the Malayalam translation of an Urdu work, police said.
The man, the Managing Director of a publication company here, had brought out the translation of 'Dawa and Jihad', which police alleged was 'highly communal' in nature.
The book has been written by Abdul Aleem Islahi and translated into Malaylam by one Usman Kadangoth, they said.
