Former tehsildar arrested by SVO in Jammu

Vigilance sleuths today arrested former Naid tehsildar in Jammu for allegedly accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Sher Singh, who served as the Naid tehsildar in 2014, was arrested in connection with a disproportionate assets case lodged in 2014, a State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) official said.

Singh, during his tenure, accumulated huge movable and immovable assets worth lakhs of rupees, he said.

The assets includes two houses, two shops and a under construction four-storey building at Rehari here along with several kanals of land, the officer said.

The accused has also invested huge amounts in the banks and made donations among other expenditures in crores of rupees, he said, adding all these assets were found disproportionate to his known sources of income.
 

"In order to ascertain the ground reality for raising such huge assets, the accused has been arrested for sustained questioning by the investigating agency. The investigation of the case is going on," the SVO official said.
