The Telangana government on Friday appointed former party MP B Vinod Kumar as the Vice Chairman of the State Planning Commission.
Chairman of the State Planning Commission and Chief Minister Sri K Chandrasekhar Rao signed the file pertaining to Vinod Kumars appointment, an official release said.
Vinod Kumar, as the State Planning Commissions Vice Chairman, has been entrusted with the important responsibility of reviewing and preparing proposals from all the departments in the backdrop of the government introducing a full-fledged Budget for the year 2019-20, it said.
"As the State Planning Commission Vice Chairman, Vinod Kumar will enjoy the status of a Cabinet Minister and will be a permanent invitee to the State Cabinet meetings and his term of office will be for three years," it said.
Kumar, a seniorleader, had been a Member of Parliament.
He lost the recent Lok Sabha elections in Karimnagar.
