Fortis Healthcare shares surge 12 pc

Shares of Fortis Healthcare surged 12 per cent today after the company said it is in talks with a number of investors to facilitate an exit of existing PE investors from the company's diagnostic arm SRL.

The stock zoomed 11.72 per cent to settle at Rs 174.90 on BSE. Intra-day, it rose sharply by 15.2 per cent to Rs 180.35.

At NSE, shares of the company climbed 12 per cent to settle at Rs 175.70.

The company added Rs 853 crore to its market valuation of Rs 8,100 crore.

In terms of volume, 10.80 lakh shares of the company were traded at BSE and over 59 lakh shares changed hands at NSE during the day.
 

"The company is in the process of facilitating a third-party exit for the existing private equity investors in SRL Ltd," Fortis Healthcare said in a filing to BSE.

The process is on and the company is in dialogue with a number of investors who have evinced interest, it added.

"As on date, there is no firm proposal under consideration of the management," Fortis Healthcare said.
