Tajmul Hossain, Forward Bloc MLA from Harischandrapur Assembly seat in Malda district, today announced that he was leaving the Left party and joining the ruling Trinamool Congress.

"I will formally join TMC with my supporters on December 12 in presence of senior TMC leaders. My supporters gave me the go-ahead at a meeting this morning," Hossain told PTI.

He said he wished to be part of the development agenda spearheaded by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

"I want to be on-board Mamata Banerjee's development plank and also want to develop my constituency," he said.

Citing the reason of leaving the Bloc, he blamed the autocratic way of functioning in the Left party and alleged he got no support and justice from it despite being a two-time legislator having mass support.

The Forward Bloc has currently 10 MLAs in the 294-member Assembly.
