'Fostering innovation, creativity in youths key govt priority'

Fostering innovation and creativity amongst youth is among the key priorities of the government, Union Minister Mahesh Sharma said as he inaugurated the 13th World Robot Olympiad today here.

Over 2,000 students from 51 countries will showcase their innovative solutions using robotics technology to reduce, manage and recycle waste.

Underlining that such events provide great platform for encouraging the creativity amongst the youth, Sharma expressed hope that hope their skills will play an important role in addressing real world problems in the future.

"Fostering innovation and creativity amongst youth is a key priority for the government and events like these are a great platform for that....We are happy to see so many enthusiastic teams across all age groups here. We wish them all the best and hope their skills will play an important role in addressing real world problems in the future," he said after inugurating the event.
 

With the theme 'Rap the Scrap', the two-day event is being organised jointly by National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), under the aegis of Ministry of Culture, and India STEM Foundation (ISF) at India Expo Mart here.
